Relationship Manager

 

Our client is a leading Financial Institution and are urgently seeking a Medium Business Relationship Manager to help deliver their expansion and development plans.


As Relationship Manager in Commercial Bank, you will be operating at the heart of the Commercial Bank. You will have prime responsibility for managing your own portfolio and producing sustainable income by providing outstanding relationship management and advice to a varied and challenging mix of Commercial Bank customers through:

New business

Growing your existing portfolio by cross-selling and increasing remuneration

Protecting existing income from your portfolio by ensuring customer needs continue to be met.

Key Accountabilities

Customer Sales

Establish and identify sales opportunities to meet customer needs and own targets, through active portfolio management and development by maintaining existing income sources, identifying areas of growth and through new business acquisition.

Responsibility for maintaining an extensive network of contacts, including Group Companies, other Stategic Business Units and Key Business Introducers and for driving proactive business development for new and existing customers.

Research, create and follow up a target list for potential new business.

Adopt a value based management approach to cost control.

Customer Service

Develop dynamic working relationships with customers, offering outstanding financial service and advice to customers to assist them in achieving their personal and business strategic goals and growth aspirations.

Exceed customer expectations, including speedy resolution to all queries and any complaints ensuring high standards are maintained and reflected in customer satisfaction scores.

Deliver tailored levels of service and advice according to customer needs and expectations in line with cost-to-serve best practices

Risk Assessment and Control

Ensure Credit Risk Accreditation status is achieved and maintained.

Responsible for the quality of initial credit applications and ongoing account monitoring and control, taking into account the environment in which customers operate and current Barclays credit policy and procedures.

Responsible for building an effective working partnership with credit colleagues to jointly agree credit risk actions and ownership of credit risk decisions.

Ensure compliance with mandatory Barclays Risk policies and procedures relating to governance, regulatory, compliance, operational and legal risk.

Manage “Early Warning List” customers to reduce risk, following Head Office and Regional guidance provided, ensuring proactive and timely referral to credit and Business Support Colleagues.

Ensure new accounts opened comply with “Know your Customer” requirements with 100% accuracy.

Team Working

Be an active member of Commercial Bank at a local, regional and national level.

Take responsibility for the development of a strong working relationship with your Support Team, sharing knowledge and good practice and helping to develop capabilities.

Actively support and further Barclays activities in the local community.


Essential Technical Skills

Selling skills – using needs satisfaction approach (including new Business Development)

Proficient in use of Windows based packages e.g. Word/Excel/PowerPoint and internal computer systems including intranet, E mail, Customer System, ACAT/ Lending Advisor, Overquota and any other platform applications

Credit skills (including analysis and judgement)

Essential Knowledge of the Bank’s products, services & policies required to undertake the role

Detailed knowledge of VAPM levers (products that create value for Business)

Strong knowledge of the features and benefits of Commercial Bank product range that create maximum value

An understanding of policies and strategies across the Group relevant to Commercial Bank market

Comprehensive understanding of the impact of local and national economic environment on customer’s needs

Good working knowledge of mandatory Barclays Risk policies and procedures relating to governance, regulatory, compliance, operational and legal risk.

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

Educated to degree level or equivalent.

Commercial awareness in relation to the Medium Business market and a wider understanding of general economic climate.There will be a key requirement to keep abreast of change in this area.

Other essential requirements specific to the role:

Full driving licence

You will be required to undertake a significant number of visits to customers at their own premises, requiring a high degree of mobility around your designated “patch”.

Requirement to work flexibly to meet the demands of clients often outside of normal working hours

Other desirable requirements:

Capacity to develop the understanding of the roles and responsibilities of individuals based in other areas of the Barclays Group who would form an integral part of the provision of specialist services

Development of expert knowledge in certain 'value creating' sectors e.g. education
