Team Leader

The UK Private Banking team offers bespoke banking and investment solutions to affluent and High Net Worth clients across the country. Barclays Wealth Private Bankers act as trusted advisors to clients providing a world class range of investment solutions and products across all asset classes, wealth structuring, lending and banking services. They are supported by dedicated experts from across the firm (including Wealth Advisory and Investment & Product Office) plus the wider Barclays Group (including Barclays Capital and Barclays Global Investors.) This access and support represents a unique opportunity for Private Bankers to develop their career within the fastest growing Wealth Manager in the country.

Following the recent launch of the Barclays branch network in Northern Ireland in 2007, Barclays Wealth is expanding its footprint in Northern Ireland. Based in Belfast the Private Bankers will be instrumental in building the brand and proposition in the region.

Core accountabilities

Acquire, develop and service relationships with a range of UK Affluent clients with assets to invest up to £3m (typically 100 - 150 clients).

New Business Origination:

Identify, develop and secure new relationships through personal and client referrals, Barclays Group internal networks and corporate and investment banking sources

Achieve personal and team targets for new clients, assets and revenues

Proactively cross selling into existing book to increase share of wallet as well as gaining new clients

Make a demonstrable contribution to referring relevant business to other parts of Barclays Wealth and/or the Barclays Group

Client Relationship Management:

Maintain highest levels of service and delivery to existing clients at all times.

Develop deep and value added relationships with clients which ultimately positions the Banker as a financial life coach and confidant for the client and their families.

Key contact for all investment advice and client queries

Key Interface between clients and other parts of Barclays Wealth and the wider Barclays Group.

Ensure that opportunities' are shared with appropriate colleagues within wealth and across the Barclays group.

Investment Advice and Financial Solutions:

Identify new product opportunities and communicate these to the appropriate product specialists

Provide innovative and world class financial solutions to meet client needs including;

- Investment Management: Offers a range of services depending on client demands, including modelled, bespoke discretionary and advisory portfolios. Investment Management works closely with the Private Bankers to provide a holistic service to clients

- Balance Sheet: Offers Banking, Credit and FX products to support a wide range of clients borrowing needs including finance for property and luxury purchases

- Wealth Advisory: Provides tax and fiduciary solutions, wealth planning and structuring services plus trust and estate planning

Governance and Control:

Ensure conformity with global and market standards of client service, regulatory compliance, T&C, KYC, product delivery and operating model.

Team Support

Make a demonstrable contribution to developing new and emerging talent within the UKPB and other areas of Barclays Wealth as appropriate.

Key clients (internal and external)

Belfast and wider Northern Ireland based Affluent clients with assets to invest up to £3 million. Intermediaries and referrers from the Barclays network, local business community and other key stakeholders.

CF 21 and CF27

Professional/technical experience

Strong relationship skills with experience of managing and handling the sophisticated needs of individuals and families

Experience of building a client base from scratch using internal and external networks

Effective in gaining an in-depth understanding of client's needs and advising on a diverse range of wealth management solutions

Satisfies the FSA criteria for an approved person both initially and ongoing - this will involve obtaining the relevant qualifications if not already qualified.

Broad experience of the Financial Services industry, particularly in the areas of Retail regulated products and services to mass market and high net worth customers and asset management.

Detailed regulatory knowledge in particular of the UK regulatory requirements and an overall understanding of the business impact of the regulatory environment.

Excellent market exposure and multi-disciplined private banking expertise
