Provide dedicated support to a Relationship Manager in the acquisition of new income streams to Medium Business

Develop quality leads / introductions for the Relationship Manager by researching and identifying prospective new clients to Barclays

Meet with prospective customers to understand business requirements and work with the Relationship Manager to produce a tailored offering

Act as the initial primary point of contact for new customers responsible for the entire account transfer process and subsequently the smooth transition to named contacts within the Corporate Support Team

Key Accountabilities Sales and Service:

Research prospective new customers for Medium Business utilising appropriate sources of information e.g. one source data base

Identify appropriate target customers for Relationship Manager via Key Business Introducers / internal referrals or ‘cold calling’ opportunities, making appointments as appropriate

Visit new clients with Relationship Manager to understand business requirements and assist in the development of a tailored solution

Prepare tender documentation

Undertake formal presentation of Barclays solution to customer in conjunction with Relationship Manager

Undertake specific product presentations e.g. Business Master

Act as a primary point of contact for customers during the account transfer period dealing with a range of operational, procedural and credit related issues

Ensure the [smooth transition of servicing] to nominated contacts within the Corporate Support Team Develop strong relationships with Group Companies acting as a key liaison point in developing specialist solutions for the customer e.g. cash management

Develop and maintain contacts with the local business community ,working with the Relationship Manager to raise the profile of Barclays within the KBI community

Develop relationships with local media contacts

In conjunction with the Relationship Manager hold business seminars for customers and Key Business Introducers

Monitor and track new business opportunities via a suitable tracking system

Business Management:

Identify priority customers linked to future VAPM potential

Analyse and review financial information of prospective new customers

Create and co-ordinate the production of annual customer relationship plans for all target companies and create an action plan for each quarter

Ensure new accounts are opened in conformance with 'Know Your Customer' requirements with 100% accuracy

Ensure the quality of data for new customers within our systems is robust

Provide technical input and undertake research for Relationship Manager in connection with proposed security and liaise with Barclays Securities Centre / Loan Servicing Centre to arrange preparation and execution of security documentation

Prepare facility letters and co-ordinate the execution of documentation and drawdown of facilities

Collate customer produced financial information and input or co-ordinate input onto Lending Advisor / ACAT

Significant input into the development of a new lending application for submission to Credit Team

Monitor the correct set up of products from other areas of the Barclays Group

Apply amendments to account details including borrowing limits, interest rates and interest and commission charges

Work closely with the rest of the Corporate Team providing mutual support by training, coaching and sharing knowledge and business development best practice

Essential Technical Skills:

Proficient in use of Windows based packages e.g. word / excel / powerpoint and internal computer systems including intranet, E mail, Customer System, ACAT/ Lending Advisor, Overquota and any other platform applications.

Essential Knowledge & Experience:

Educated to degree level or equivalent.

Commercial awareness in relation to the Medium Business market and a wider understanding of general economic climate. There will be a key requirement to keep abreast of change in this area.

Essential Knowledge of the Bank’s products, services & policies required to undertake the role:

Detailed understanding of KYC procedures

Thorough understanding of the products and solutions available from across the organisation to suit the customer base

Good knowledge of VAPM and the subsequent impact on pricing within tender

Knowledge of financial appraisal techniques and key financial accounting principles

Awareness of technical security implications

Awareness of legislation affecting the Bank including the Data Protection Act, Consumer Credit Act

Other essential requirements specific to the role:

Full driving licence

You will be required to undertake a significant number of visits to customers at their own premises, requiring a high degree of mobility around your designated “patch”.

Requirement to work flexibly to meet the demands of clients often outside of normal working hours

Other desirable requirements:

Capacity to develop the understanding of the roles and responsibilities of individuals based in other areas of the Barclays Group who would form an integral part of the provision of specialist services

Development of expert knowledge in certain 'value creating' sectors e.g. education
