Managing Director

 

Our client, is one of the fastest growing privately owned businesses in Northern Ireland, with a rich, ten year history and exciting growth plans, involving both further market penetration and diversification. The owner is now seeking to hand over, to an individual capable of leading the company through this period of ambitious growth and who can help realise the full potential of the employees within the business.


To develop, implement and maintain appropriate structures and systems to ensure the on going development and growth of the business as defined by bottom line profitability

  • Successfully implement current business plan
  • Develop and implement effective business plans ensuring they are both realistic and suitably ambitious to meet growth demands of longer term strategy
  • Strengthen financial systems within business to ensure both accurate product costing and reporting standards
  • Successfully manage the transition from ‘small growth company’, mentality to ‘Large leading’ mindset
  • Ensure the good brand name is maintained and successfully introduced to new markets.
  • Be aware of and encourage others to be aware of opportunities to develop innovative products and secure new business with key multiples (i.e. M&S, Boots)
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement and ensure market leading quality standards are maintained (i.e. BRC)
  • Provide day to day direction and guidance to the management team
  • Ensure accountability is maintained at all levels of responsibility
  • Be aware of modern management concepts and develop their use within the company as appropriate for success
  • Ensure effective communication is developed and maintained within the company and with customers
  • Represent the company at outside events and deal with external agencies such as InvestNI and banks
  • Ensure good planning, budgeting and financial control
  • Ensure conformance with all relevant legislation.

Ulster

The remuneration on offer is negotiable and will be dependant on experience of the individual.


Experience required:

A solid track record of achievement comparable with that normally gained by some 10 years of relevant business experience in a senior role

Previous P&L responsibility and a strong commercial and financial management background is necessary

Computer literate with experience in their uses

Evidence of vision and achievement based on that vision, is necessary

Desirable:

Experience in an FMCG business or one supplying into retail industry

Experience of increasing market share and penetrating new markets

Experience of dealing with outside agencies such as Invest NI Experience in modern management concepts

  • Highly committed, driven, dedicated and assertive
  • Enjoys the cut and thrust of a fast moving business and thrives under challenges
  • Able to establish root causes of problems and apply effective solutions
  • Good leader, motivator, and team player who can get things done through people
  • Presence with good interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to relate well to people at all levels
  • Highly numerate and able to quickly assess trends and projects
