Private Banker / Pod Leader

The UK Private Banking team offers bespoke banking and investment solutions to affluent and high net worth clients across the country. Barclays Wealth Private Bankers act as trusted advisors to clients providing a world class range of investment solutions and products across all asset classes, wealth structuring, lending and banking services.

Following the recent launch of the Barclays branch network in Northern Ireland in 2007, Barclays Wealth is expanding its footprint in Northern Ireland. Based in Belfast the Private Bankers and Private Banking Executives will be instrumental in building the brand and proposition in the region.

The Private Banking Executive (PBE) will build and monitor relationships with clients, working alongside the Private Banker to ensure quality service is provided at all times, and proactively manage a portfolio of clients.

Core accountabilities

Client Services: Acting as the main point of contact for a portfolio of clients, the PBE will deal with day-to-day administration across the range of services and products:

- preparing (non advice-giving) letters to clients for own signature and draft letters for Private Bankers

- preparing ad-hoc reports for clients

- addressing and solving clients' administration enquiries

- performing daily operations and transactions on clients' accounts in order to provide high quality personalised service.

Sales Support: Assist Private Bankers in administration and management of client relationships including attending meetings (to observe/take notes), preparation of file notes, drafting of letters and other documentation, annual client reviews, etc. (all overseen and signed-off by the Private Banker.). Act as the key liaison between the Private Banker and specialist product areas, e.g. Investment Management, Credit, Fiduciary, etc. to ensure the smooth operation of all services.

Compliance: Ensure all accountabilities are delivered in a risk controlled way.

General Support: Provide general support to Private Bankers on ad-hoc issues as required, e.g. researching background details on clients and potential clients, and be fully accountable for processing documents and ensuring that the due diligence is satisfactory. Handle incoming mail, faxes and phone calls from clients, interact with the relevant support departments and confirm all relevant actions to the clients.

Key clients (internal and external)

Belfast and wider Northern Ireland based Affluent clients with assets to invest up to £3 million. Intermediaries and referrers from the Barclays network, local business community and other key stakeholders.

Undergraduate Business or Finance related degree preferred but not essential.

Sound knowledge of banking and operational procedures, plus lending and understanding of security requirements. The ideal candidate will also have an understanding of risk and control frameworks and procedures.

Naturally positive and self motivated, the candidate will thrive in an environment where they can use their initiative to reach both personal and professional goals.

Demonstrable interest in financial markets.

Ability to clearly present complex information both written and orally.

Strong aptitude for problem solving using a rational approach, and the ability to prioritise, organise and multi-task with ease.

Adaptable to working under pressure with a heavy workload.
