Health & Safety Officer

 

A Vacancy has arisen within a HR department for a Health & Safety Officer reporting to the HR Manager.


Key Accountabilities:

The role of the H&S officer is to lead and proactively promote a positive Health &Safety environment.

This will involve:

Provision of expert advice & guidance in relation to health & safety matters

Develop, implement and manage Health & Safety strategy and policies

Conduct accident/incident investigations and risk assessments

Maintain and update the Health &Safety database

Manage risk and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation

Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and maintain statutory books

Manage the accident register and ensure completion of statutory reports etc.

Chair the health & safety team

Develop and deliver H&S training

Manage all Employer Liability Claims

Monitor and report on the H&S performance of the company and produce timely reports

Participate in relevant project teams

A recognised Health & Safety qualification would be considered advantageous.

Applicants must:

Demonstrate a substantial track record in a similar H&S role to include the key accountabilities of this role;

Demonstrate evidence of strong influencing skills;

Practical experience of delivering H&S training;

Have strong PC skills;

The ability to explain risk concepts and influence others to take responsibility for risk management;

You must also be able to demonstrate the ability to liaise and influence at all levels, work on your own initiative as well as part of the HR team and to manage projects to tight deadlines;

A recognised Health & Safety qualification would be considered advantageous.
