Human Resources Manager

 

PBNI is an executive non-departmental public body (NDPB) established by the Probation Board (Northern Ireland) Order 1982. It is accountable to Parliament through Ministers and its performance is reviewed regularly throughout the year by its sponsor department, presently the Northern Ireland Office.

The future will present PBNI with a number of challenges and opportunities. A recent review of the sentencing framework in Northern Ireland has resulted in new legislation that effectively will place PBNI as the key criminal justice agency in the assessment and management of risk posed by offenders. Owing to the impending retirement of the current of the current incumbent, PBNI is seeking a rounded HR professional who can contribute effectively to implementing the changes.


· Implement change in line with the Corporate Plan and HR Strategy

· Bring a fresh approach to the organisation through engagement and partnership at all levels to enhance motivation and commitment

· Provide a comprehensive HR service which delivers excellent value to internal customers

· Contribute fully, and with constructive challenge, as a member of the Senior Management Group

Approximately 350 employees increasing to some 500 over a five year period

Head Office in Belfast

Salary Scale £47,000 to £60,000


 

 

Chartered CIPD membership is essential

A relevant degree is desirable

· Equivalent of at least four years relevant HR experience in the last eight years at management level in relevant sector such as NDPB, Local Authority, Health or similar

· Successful track record of encouraging behavioural change

· Comprehensive knowledge of leading HR practice and NI HR legislation

· Generalist experience with breadth of HR activities
