Local Business Manager - Banking

 

 
 

Overall Job Role:

  • prime responsibility for acquiring high value Local Business customers which will produce sustainable income, extensive business development activity and appropriate cross sales
  • build and maintain professional business relationships across a portfolio of high value /complex Local Business customers
  • Identify and proactively build value-creating links with Key Business Introducers, in order to attract new business to Barclays and raise the profile of Barclays Local Business Team in the local community.
  • Develop quality leads / introductions by researching and identifying prospective clients to Barclays.
  • To focus on growing value and improving the quality of your portfolio of customers
  • Research prospective new customers for Local Business utilising appropriate sources of information
  • Development of value creating relationships, through delivering service excellence, with Key Business Influencers
  • Responsible for developing and implementing local promotional and marketing activities and developing relationships with local media contacts and influential people
  • Adopt a commercial approach to cost control, income generation and recruitment activities
  • Develop and demonstrate a deep understanding of the Business lifecycle specifically including the challenges, key issues and concerns facing small business customers.
  • Ensure new accounts are opened in conformance with 'Know Your Customer' requirements with 100% accuracy and initial assessment request applies with risk appraisal policy and guidelines.
  • Provide support to the Area Manager in relation to assigned responsibilities
  • Work effectively with own team and colleagues from across the group to achieve business goals and objectives and meet customer needs
  • Proactively raise the profile and reputation of the Bank in the local community, supporting team activities where applicable
  • Understand and apply the relevant governance and compliance procedures to activities undertaken
  • Ensure the quality of data for customers within our systems is robust

Person Specification:

Essential:

Excellent customer service/empathy focus, i.e. actively demonstrating an understanding of the customer’s situation, understanding their feelings

Advanced Sales skills focusing on consultative sales techniques, needs identification/satisfaction

Excellent understanding of Local Business customer issues /challenges and the ability to provide support and guidance at a professional level

Excellence in the following skills: Networking , Presentation and Negotiation

Preferred:

Detailed knowledge and understanding of wider Bank issues and Local Business / UK Banking strategy

Experience and Qualifications:

Proven track record of achieving stretching targets within a sales and/or service orientated role /environment

Proven track record of acquiring and developing new Business relationships and third party relationships

Experience of managing a customer portfolio in sales and/or service disciplines

Experience in / with the Local Business market / segment is desirable
