BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

 

This newly created position, reporting to the Managing Director, is with a successful company that is the number one business in its market. The jobholder will form part of the Management Team and will seek out and deliver new business and value added opportunities.


The key accountabilities of the role include:

  • To establish an up-to-date market database identifying market size, critical service issues, major players, competitor activity, trends and business share by product and region.
  • To contribute to the formulation and implementation of Corus Ireland strategic plans.
  • To propose business development plans and manage the actions necessary to secure business from key target projects and monitor sales performance against plan and agree remedial action to ensure the achievement of target performance.
  • To develop and maintain wide-ranging contacts, at senior management level, with major customers and specifiers and to maximise the business opportunities from such contacts.
  • To develop and maintain a communications network across the business and key commercial and trade organisations in order to communicate business opportunities within the organisation.
  • Taking into account the business’ product and sector strategies; propose and secure approval for the development of new business opportunities within the Ireland market, in order to optimise commercial objectives.
  • To review new business opportunities and recommend existing and new accounts, and value added activities to be exploited by the business, and to facilitate their development.
  • To manage the performance and development plans of team members and to be actively engaged in their personal development in order to maximise their performance and contribution to the Business.

Qualifications and Experience

The position requires an experienced Manager with substantial experience in business and product/service development activities.

The job-holder must have the entrepreneurial ability to think beyond the boundaries of traditional offerings in order to maximise profit opportunities from within the Ireland market.

The job-holder must have demonstrated commercial success and have the ability to create a high level of trust with both customers and suppliers, inside and external to the business.

The underlying task of the Business Development Manager is to create a business unit capable of delivering sustainable return on net operating assets in a defined timescale.

A key challenge is to define and establish business opportunity and planning processes that can deliver this objective.
